A sustainable mindset and behavior since the beginning
The most sustainable way is to not make things. The second most sustainable way is to make something very useful, to solve a problem that hasn’t been solved.
YBC® responsibility starts from the fact that we are a factory and not only a sales office. The procedures to obtain ISO certification are stringent and precise, and we are proud to be the first seat pad factory to achieve ISO 9001 and 14001 certification, the most widely recognized certification for environmental management systems.
All suppliers wishing to collaborate with YBC® on our projects had to be certified and sustainable from the beginning. This is why all our energy suppliers use only renewable resources, and we managed to set up a supply chain that uses, for the most part, green energy.
We began using recycled polyamide and polyester fabrics in 2014, and we put a great deal of effort into identifying alternative eco-friendly materials. While sourcing them, we always kept in mind that recycled materials are still not SUSTAINABLE (especially when it comes to foams). For this reason, we started using materials with real natural ingredients.
Every production process has been studied to optimize energy use and reduce any waste. YBC® generates waste from the cutting and shaving process, especially with polyurethanes. However, this polyurethane has a second life, as it is reused for building insulation and furniture padding.
We also planned our logistics from the beginning to be minimal and to reduce CO2 emissions as much as possible. After a few years of saving and planning, we realized that the only way to reduce transportation costs and emissions is to open factories where customers need the product. We didn’t merely reorganize transport; we almost eliminated it. For this reason, YBC® factories are distributed around the world and close to the main apparel production sites.
